Cape Point is a 20 kilometre drive from Simon’s Town along a spectacularly scenic coast road. It is a nature reserve (gate opening times vary with the seasons) with a whole host of attractions and things to do such as birding, photographing (or just looking at) many indigenous plant species which grow nowhere else in the world, swimming in tidal pools etc. There are many beautiful hikes within the Reserve, such as the Shipwreck Trail which follows a section of the coastline, all of which are clearly marked.
At the Point itself there is licensed restaurant where one can relax and look out over False Bay. You can ride the Flying Dutchman funicular up to the viewing point below the old lighthouse.
